What did you like about this chalet?
After a long, tiring, snowy journey, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts Robin & Natalie. The chalet felt very cosy with a roaring fire and the smell of delicious dinner which were very well received when we arrived! We soon settled in, unpacked and showered, slippers on, followed by delicious welcome fizz and canapés – the perfect way to start to relax on holiday!
We found the chalet to be in a very peaceful and restful location, yet just a short walk to the nearest shops, bars & restaurants in the centre of Val d’Isère which made it very convenient. It was also fantastic to have free parking at the chalet (pretty unheard of for Val d’Isère)!
Did you enjoy the food & wine?
The food was excellent, I would particularly recommend Nat’s bread & butter pudding. We enjoyed the wine too and it was great to have the choice of rosé, white or red wine with dinner.
What was your ski holiday highlight?
Of course, the main highlight was the snow! We were lucky to have such fantastic early December snow – the skiing conditions were amazing.
It’s a really easy 4-5 minute walk from the chalet to the bus stop which can take you either to the slopes in Val d’Isère or Le Fornet in one direction or to La Daille the other direction (the bus is very regular so you don’t have to wait long). Either way it gives you plenty of scope for a different adventure each day so you can truly explore the whole of the Espace Killy ski region and make the most of your ski pass.
Did you hire ski equipment with our recommended supplier and what did you think?
Yes we did hire our skis from Val Spirit who provided an excellent service both in terms of their technical advice and also the equipment they provided us with. The all mountain skis we hired were fantastic!
Robin had our ski passes ready for us too, so it was all nice and easy.
What did you think of the nightlife?
Although we didn’t experience the popular nightlife in Val d’Isère this time, we did enjoy a beer at the Folie Douce in the afternoon which is the place to party on the slopes! With Star Wars themed dancing, acts & fireworks – it was very entertaining!!
Getting back to the chalet from here is easy – you can either ski or take the gondola back down to La Daille and then it’s a two-minute hop on the bus back to the chalet.
What was the skiing like (terrain, lift system, convenience)?
Amazing! Not all the lifts were open due to the heavy snow but that said the ones that were, had the ultimate skiing conditions and the pistes were empty!
Did you take part in any mountain activities (other than skiing)?
No we didn’t, however, not far from the chalet is the BMW Ice Driving track – we watched for a bit – it looks like an exhilarating experience for those seeking a thrill!
Did you fly or drive, and how did you find the journey?
We flew to Geneva and then hired a car to get to resort. We knew it was forecast heavy snow so we were well prepared with snow chains, a full tank of fuel, and food & drinks in the car. Although it took a lot longer than expected, the journey and directions to the chalet were pretty easy.
Please let us know if you have any other comments or feedback you would like to share with us?
Just a big thank you to Robin and Natalie who really looked after us during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure meeting them.
We would like to thank Mo enormously for her time and letting us know her thoughts about this chalet as the very fist guest! It’s great to hear from you and we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay with Ski Bonjour. Thank you!
