Tignes les Brévières

With a deep seed in the history of skiing, Tignes les Brévières back in the 1920’s was one of the first areas to welcome pioneer skiers.  As a result, this picturesque and quaint village has been welcoming skiing and snow boarding enthusiasts ever since.  The unique combination of a relaxed and chilled traditional alpine village, nestled at the bottom of the famous dam, with endless pistes, perfect conditions and easy open powder fields enables you to have everything your skiing heart desires right on your very doorstep.

The big off-piste runs from the highest parts of the resort, start with steep narrow couloirs to get the blood pumping, which run out into big snow-filled powder bowls and then ultimately through trees to the bottom of the resort. Whether you are looking for more experienced runs, or skiing for the very first time, Tignes Les Brévières has it all…

Tignes les Brévières is highly thought of as the most picturesque village in the makeup of the resort of Tignes and neighbouring Val d’Isère. It offers a range of bars, restaurants, shops & cafes as well as quick and easy access into the vast Espace Killy ski region with over 300km of piste. It is a beautiful resort with access to a high altitude range from 1550m to 3450m which provides a an excellent snow-sure record. We can offer you a welcoming catered chalet stay in Chalet Bonjour-BonjourBonjour-Panoramique or Bonjour-Rosko in Tignes les Brévières, each with a choice of a hot tub or sauna to help relax those muscles at the end of a good day skiing.

While you’re out and about skiing, Tignes les Brévières is never short of some fantastic views. Off the Myrtilles blue run gaze back down towards the town and the view will just take your breath away. If you are lucky you may also come across some frozen waterfalls or visit the ice caves just off the Melèzes ski run. And of course, there is always the view from the top of La Grande Motte, which words just can’t describe!

Ski Lifts in Brévières

Les Brévières itself is perfectly integrated into the lift network, ensuring easy access to the slopes for its visitors. Skiers heading for the runs have a choice of the gondola or a chairlift, followed by another chairlift. There is then a choice of a blue or red graded runs, both taking their users straight to Tignes le Lac, the perfect starting point from which to spend a day exploring the whole “Tignes” ski area, or perhaps even the entire “Espace Killy” region.

Sache Gondola

To get to Tignes itself you can take this gondola and then the Aiguille Rouge Chairlift, from here you can ski down into Tignes, it takes approximately 20 minutes on these lifts.

Brevieres Chairlift

This chairlift can be used in both directions (up and down) and is free to use for skiers and pedestrians, it takes you to Tignes les Boisses.   From here you can take a free bus to Tignes le Lac.

Drag lift

This is a free lift for the nursery slope.

Pedestrian lift

This is a functional lift to help guests who are staying in the upper part of the village like our Chalet Bonjour-Panoramique & Bonjour-Rosko.

Returning to Les Brévières

The return journey to Les Brévières at the end of the day couldn’t be more straightforward. All it takes is one chairlift ride from Tignes le Lac called the Chaudannes which takes 6 minutes, and visitors will find themselves with a choice of 1 blue, 2 red and 1 black-graded run, all of which will take them directly back down to the resort. These runs are fully operational right up until the end of the season, thanks to a combination of excellent snow conditions and the use of snow cannons.  It is also possible to get the Sache gondola back down to resort as long as you are there by 4:45pm!

Alternatively you can take the bus from Tignes le Lac to Boisses – ski from here on an easy blue into the village or take the Brevieres chair lift down. First-time skiers will find a dedicated practice run in Les Brévières, complete with its own (free-to-use) drag lift.  Tignes have mapped out specific areas for beginner skiers and boarders – find out more by reading our guide ‘Tignes for Beginners’ – it’s the perfect resort for learning!

Favourite Run

In our opinion, the Vallon de Sache is quite literally, the best run in the resort. It has everything, and is always quiet, a gorgeous hidden gem, which many of the Ski Bonjour staff just rave about. To get there, take the Aiguille Percée chairlift and walk up to the top of the slope, turning right. There you will find three couloirs, with various flatter and steeper sections, which all take you back down to the Sache Valley.

Tignes le Lac

Whilst Tignes les Brévières is pretty self-sufficient it is only a ten-minute drive or twenty-minute ski to get you to Tignes, an internationally known ski resort. If you like shopping Tignes is a down to earth resort with good shops and a friendly atmosphere.

Tignes has many facilities, including banks, hospital, a sports centre, gym, mountain guiding centre, cinema, bowling alley and the not-to-be-missed ice diving club where you can be lowered into the lake through a hole cut in the ice in scuba gear! There is also an Aquatic Centre with pools, saunas, spas and water slides plus a very good gym open to the public. The Aquatic Centre has free entry to anybody with an Espace Killy ski pass from 2 to 15 days long. The gym has a modest entry fee. An International conference and sports facility was built in 2013 containing concert venues as well as excellent sports facilities and a world-class climbing wall.

We can also offer you a fantastic stay at our Chalet Bonjour-Tourelle in Tignes, which is marked on this map.  For more information you can also read our comprehensive Tignes le Lac Guide, which includes restaurants, bars, activities and much more!
